Our typical system utilises a 30m track-mounted bridge that enables the supply vessel to remain a safe distance away from the platform on DP. The deck skate is free to move on rails relative to the vessel, giving it freedom to maintain its DP watch circle - no attempt is made to make a "fixed mooring" to the platform. Vertical and horizontally pivoting couplings at each end of the bridge accommodate vertical offsets. Redundancy is ensured by multiple tubes and progressive failure modes. During operation the bridge is slid up a guide wire from the supply vessel to locate against the platform. A controlled breakaway system limits the loads which can be applied to the platform.
