Accolade For EB's Waterbridge February 2007 The Engineering Business (EB) came away with a double accolade from the 4th Annual EEEGR (East of England Energy Group) Energy Innovation Awards. Their WaterBridge offshore access system not only won the Runners Up Award, but earned them words of praise from the Chief Executive of the British Wind Energy Association. WaterBridge, the innovative device that won the Runners Up Award, provides a temporary bridge between a vessel and a structure or a second vessel. This ensures that transfers can be conducted easily and safely in more hostile weather conditions than is normally attempted. Originally designed to provide access to offshore wind turbines, the inflatable bridge concept has been developed into a family of solutions for the transfer of personnel, supplies and equipment. "We were delighted by this 'double accolade'", says Ben Webster, EB's Business Developer. "WaterBridge beat some stiff competition, including another access system, and even if we didn't win the ultimate award, we were naturally pleased to be placed in the runner up position." "BWEA's Chief Executive, Maria McCaffery specifically mentioned EB, the WaterBridge and our efforts to improve safety for access to offshore wind farms in her presentation at EEEGR's SNS 07 - Southern North Sea Conference held the day after the Innovation Awards. This sort of acknowledgment of our efforts - and of WaterBridge itself - is extremely welcome. Offshore safety is of paramount importance and we are proud to be making a valuable contribution." |
